The 70th Annual Milford Alumni Association Banquet was held on June 13, 2015 at The Holiday Inn in Oneonta. The evening started with registration and social hour at 5:00p.m... At 6:00, the meeting began in the ballroom.

After the Welcome by our President, Patty Young Winsor, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Joan Eggleston Young then led us in the Alma Mater and Merle Olmstead offered the Invocation.

Following a delicious meal, we were entertained by Milford Central School’s M’a Capella and Nothing But Treble. They performed four songs under the direction of Kerri Hogle.

The business meeting followed. Officers present were: President-Patty Young Winsor(1968), Vice President- Sandra Eggleston Andrews(1970), Secretary-Ramona Short Udovich(1969), Treasurer-Sharon(Sharry) Strait-Carey(1967), and Website Manager-Hugo Beck(1963).

The Class of 1965, Earliest Class year- Niles Eggleston-1935 , Youngest Class year-Miles Jahnke-2012, and Farthest travelled- Harold Hansen-1959 -1,427 mi.

Niles was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication to the Milford Central School, the students, and the Alumni Association. It was a well deserved award. An anonymous donation to the Association was made in honor of Hugo Beck for his hard work, dedication, and advancement of the Alumni Association to the 21st century. Thank you Hugo, for all your help!!

Scholarship awards were given to our honored graduating seniors. Lexi Jahnke received the Valedictorian Award. The Excellence Award Scholarship was given to Emilie Mertz.

Questionnaires were given to alumni and encouraged to complete with their ideas and opinions for future banquets. Patty asked if there were any volunteers to chair a banquet committee. This would include planning, setting up before the banquet and cleaning up after the banquet. No one jumped at this golden opportunity. Patty also asked for suggestions about the location of the next banquet. No complaints or comments were offered from the audience.

Treasurer’s report was read by Sharry, and the Secretary’s report was read by Ramona. Patty and Sharry reported that our expenses have gone way up. Major cost was mailing out invitations. Over 1000 were sent out, costing over $300.00. Mailings were sent out in bulk mailing through the school. Alumni were encouraged to share their email addresses with the association.

We did receive a tax exempt status. We no longer are required to pay sales tax on purchases.

Patty then shared excerpts from the 1946 Alumni Meeting from the MCS Alumni Book. This meeting was the first meeting since 1941.The meeting was held at the Pratt Hotel in Cooperstown. The meal was $1.25. (Tonight our meal charge was $27.00.) Master of Ceremonies was Ellery Barney. Minutes were read by Ozzie Eggleston. Alumni vocalist, Esther Henley was the entertainment

Next, we held election of officers: Julie Roseboom Piscetello (1988) was nominated for President by Hugo Beck. 2nd by Ramona Udovich. Mark Andrews also nominated the remaining slate of officers to continue with their current position: Sharry Strait Carey- Treasurer, Ramona Short Udovich-Secretary, and Hugo Beck- website manager. 2nd by Ted Winsor. Voters approved the above nominees.

A 50/50 raffle was held. John Butler won $123.00 and graciously “regifted” his share back to the association. Carolyn Atwell won 2nd prize. This was a gift basket donated by Diane Beck. Several items were donated for the “Silent Auction.”

Carol Teachout Cox made a motion to close the meeting. 2nd was by Tom Finch. There were no Nays!

Everyone seemed to enjoy the dinner. Again, Rick Cornish was our entertaining DJ. What we do without Rick!! We appreciate his generosity and dedication to the Alumni Association.

Respectfully,
