MCS Alumni Association Scholarship Program


In recent years, the Alumni Association has awarded cash scholarships to two Milford Central School graduating seniors.  


One Scholarship has gone to the class Valedictorian for their academic achievements and the second, the Excellence Award, to a graduating senior whose academic accomplishments and personal contributions to school and community are worthy of special recognition.


In 2016, Class Valedictorian, Hannah Baker received the Valedictorian Scholarship Award and the Excellence Scholarship was awarded to Sharla Woodrow.


In 2017, two $900 scholarships were awarded during graduation ceremonies on June 23rd.. The Valedictorian Award went to Lia Solensten and Marin Shepard was selected to be the Excellence Award recipient.


Scholarship awards are made possible by donations from MCS Alumni.  The annual Alumni Banquet is the only event that solicits donations for this purpose.  We hope that all alumni who attend the banquet will choose to donate an additional amount to the scholarship fund, but scholarship donations can be made even if you do not attend the banquet by returning the invitation with donation information, or at any time, following instructions given below.


The modest scholarships we award are meant to recognize the hard work put in by these students throughout their years at MCS.  Both awards that we currently provide have a requirement that the student plans to attend an accredited college or university.  With these awards, we celebrate their achievements and help them move on toward a college education and a bright future.  The cost of attending college is an ever increasing financial burden for students and families.  We hope that these one-time cash awards will help ease that burden on these well-deserving students.


The scholarship program is funded year-to-year – donations you make this year will directly determine our ability to award scholarships next year.  So, your donation this year, in any amount you can afford, will allow the Alumni Association to award scholarships in subsequent years.


If you wish, you may also make a donation toward Association administrative expenses.  These include the costs of printing and mailing banquet invitations (not everyone uses email), as well as other miscellaneous expenses incurred for the banquet and throughout the year.  Our average annual administrative expense is about $500.
